Letter submitted to the Editor on Proposition B
Submitted to Warrensburg Daily Star Journal, Warrensburg Gazette, Holden Image-Progress and Kansas City Star

Editor:
Now that the complete text of Proposition B has been published, we can see just how
much disinformation its opponents have been spreading. Let's look at the what the text
really says:
-
An applicant must take a 12 hour training course (at his own expense) and pay an $80
fee
-
An applicant must be over 21, and not publicly known to abuse alcohol or drugs.
-
An applicant can't have any felonies or misdemeanors involving firearms - even as a
juvenile!
-
An applicant must be fingerprinted and the prints checked at state level and by the
FBI.
-
The Sheriff can take up to 45 days to complete the review.
-
Virtually anyone can swear an affidavit complaining that a license holder is no longer
eligible - an affidavit that must be answered in small claims court.
-
A license holder may NOT carry a concealed firearm into church, school, or any
property owned or occupied by any government agency (yes, Arrowhead Stadium is
government-owned).
-
Anyone may post a sign prohibiting concealed weapons in any building they own or
lease.
Now, wouldn't you say that those regulations are pretty darn tight? The permit is hard to
get, easy to lose, and expensive. The people who would deny citizens the ability to
protect themselves play fast & loose with the truth - don't trust them, their words or their
motives.
Please see my previous letter on this issue.
