The Gadfly is a series of letters offering commentary on local issues and published in the Warrensburg Gazette.

I previously have reported on the fact that the Tourism Advisory Board for the Greater Warrensburg Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center (GWACC&VC) is improperly constituted, and on the difficulty in discovering when their meetings are held. Therefore, I have decided to use the Missouri Sunshine Law to lift the curtain of stealth from their operations. I have sent the following letter to the GWACC&VC (with a copy to the City of Warrensburg):

This is a request for records under the Missouri Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, Revised Statutes of Missouri.

I request that you make available to me the following records pertaining to the lodging tax:

• Minutes of all Advisory Board meetings since August 2000
• All budget documents for fiscal years involving calendar years 2000 and 2001 (to date)
• Documents showing how lodging tax dollars were expended from calendar years 2000 and 2001 (to date)
• Any marketing plans for tourism in effect since initiation of the tax.
• Cooperative marketing agreements with the Missouri Division of Tourism since the initiation of the tax.
• Any requests for reimbursement submitted under such cooperative marketing agreements.
• Evaluations or analyses of such marketing agreements submitted to the Missouri Division of Tourism.

I request that the records responsive to my request be copied and sent to me at the following address: 431 SE County Road Y, Warrensburg, MO 64093 .

I request that all fees for locating and copying the records be waived. The information I obtain through this request will be used to inform the public via newspapers and internet news.

If portions of the requested records are closed, please segregate the closed portions and provide me with the rest of the records.
